Pastor Terrence H. Hughes better known as Pastor Big “T” is a family man first, he is married to Rachel Romano Hughes and they have 4 children and seven grandchildren all residing in Denver Colorado. Pastor Hughes is the Founding Pastor of Alpha and Omega Ministries with his wife Rachel, and current Co-Pastor of the New Covenant Christian Church Alpha and Omega Ministries. The Church is planted in the Historic Five Points neighborhood where “Serving the Least” is their mission. Pastor Hughes is a human rights and social justice advocate for the people of Colorado. He presently serves on as the Interfaith and Legislative Engagement Coordinator for the Task Force to Reimagining Policing and Public Safety, Faith Coordinator for the Colorado Poor Peoples Campaign, Denver Branch. Pastor Hughes is a National Speaker/Trainer and Activist on HIV/AIDS, Health Disparities and Social Justice in the African American Community. He is the past President of the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance (2016-1018).
Dr. Robert L. Davis is the founder and Executive Director of Seasoned With Grace UnBoxed, a nonprofit committed to helping develop strong authentic leaders who create healthy workplace cultures and bringing communities together to develop solutions around public safety and policing. He has over 20 years of experience as a senior pastor, Family Life Educator, hospice chaplain, bereavement coordinator, and community leader. He is the author of two books: Seasoned With Grace: God’s Recipe for Healthy Family Communication and 12 Steps to Becoming an UnBoxed Leader Workbook. Dr. Davis also serves as project coordinator for the Denver Task Force to Reimagine Policing and Public Safety, the nation’s largest community-led task force developing community based solutions around policing and public safety. The Task Force has released a comprehensive set of 112 recommendations addressing five strategies to create a community-centered public safety model harnessing five strategies to create a community centered model of public safety.
Melanie Kesner is the Owner and Principal of Mel Rose Consulting, LLC, a Colorado-based policy and advocacy firm that works with nonprofits across the country to develop political and effective communication strategies. Melanie’s lived experience drives her career as a lifelong advocate for systemic disruption and policy change. Melanie’s family is one of many who experienced the struggle of navigating and accessing effective behavioral and mental health treatment. Melanie is fueled by her commitment to increasing accessible treatment and addressing the intersection of mental and behavioral health with the criminal justice system. Melanie has previously served in many roles, including as a policy director for a Colorado nonprofit, in several community organizer roles, and as a legislative aid for a state senator. Her eight-plus years of organizing and policy work have centered around the liberation of underserved communities by elevating voices to the legislative level. Melanie also serves on the State Taskforce on the Treatment of Persons with Behavioral Health Disorders in the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Systems. Melanie earned a BA in International Studies and a BA in Religious Studies from the University of Denver. She is pursuing her Master’s in Public Policy at the University of Colorado Denver. She has volunteered with the Denver Community Taskforce for Reimaging Police and Public Safety from the very beginning, which included hosting community listening sessions. Melanie is honored to serve as the policy analyst to work to implement the recommendations and hold the Denver government accountable.
